An elegant, pure and airy nose combines notes of white flowers, citrus, lemon-lime and plenty of classic Chablis character. There is also excellent volume, density and power to the refined medium-bodied flavors that presently are not quite as complex as they usually are on the lingering finish. The underlying material however appears to be first-rate and as such my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that more depth will develop with time. The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre wafts from the glass with aromas of Meyer lemon, beeswax, pastry cream and nutmeg. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and generous, with a fleshier, more sun-kissed profile than the other premiers crus in the cellar.
