Tasting Notes

A 2005 Chapelle-Chambertin offers a nose of blackberries with herb- and spice-accented charred and roasted lamb. Persistently sappy and smoky, this really sticks to the gums and finishes with impressive smoky, salty, meaty yet always generously black-fruited intensity.

Score: 90 - 92

David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 29 June 2007

A very ripe nose features aromas of mocha, chocolate, spiced plum and warm earth and despite the ripeness of the nose, the flavors remains fresh and refined with good punch and power on the somewhat animale finish. This is a mildly awkward wine today that hasn't quite found its center though it certainly has solid raw materials.

Score: 90 - 94

Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2017+ 01 April 2007

Good saturated red-ruby color. Wild, ripe nose hints at gingerbread and smoked meat. Suave, velvety and plump, with noteworthy density and an exotic spice character to go with the smoked meats. Round, sweet and fat with extract; seamless and seductive. This is from Domaine Pierre Damoy fruit, but Bouchard picks their parcel of vines much earlier.

Score: 92 - 94
