Good red-ruby. Deep, complex nose combines cherry, raspberry, licorice, minerals and spices. Expansive, silky and sweet, but pure and fresh, with lovely incipient complexity and harmonious acidity. Finishes with firm, toothcoating tannins and terrific persistence. Also built for extended aging. 93(?+) points Score: 93 Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 June 2001 |

Full ruby-red. Even riper aromas of crystallized raspberry, cassis and licorice. Then quite clenched, even a bit brutal, and dominated by its firm structure; very dense but unusually unforthcoming for La Tache at this stage of its development. This was the last '98 to finish its malolactic fermentation, proprietor Aubert de Villaine noted. Best today on the very long finish; the firm tannins coat the entire palate. 91-94 points Score: 91 - 94 Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 March 2000 |
