Tasting Notes

The 2016 Meursault les Clous comes from vines located just above the village at 250 meters on white marl soils that both predicated a late picking. The vines were protected from the frosts because the buds were not open yet. It has a pretty white flower and walnut tinged-bouquet while the palate is well balanced if just missing a little complexity and mineralité. Still, overall this is a very satisfying village cru.

(Weber described this later harvest from a higher-altitude site as a pleasant surprise): Pale bright yellow. Nicely aromatic scents of lime peel, fresh herbs and mint. Juicy and spicy, showing excellent definition and length to its citrus flavors, as well as a hint of remaining malic acidity. This lively, rather delicate wine should make a very fresh drink.

Score: 88 - 90
