The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets "Ancienne Cuvée Carnot" was one of the few wines from Bouchard Père & Fils that felt a little volatile on the nose, maybe just picked a day too late? The palate is sweet on the entry with powerful black cherry and blackcurrant notes tinged with tar, although I would be seeking more refinement and detail on the finish.
