Tasted at David Pope’s Monte Bello dinner in London. The 1998 Monte Bello was showing better than the 1997: more intensity (though less finesse) on the nose - sweet red fruits, mulberry and dark chocolate. The palate is cohesive, very focused with dense black fruits, minerals and pain grille. Well-knit tannins - this is excellent, especially considering the vintage. Score: 91 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 30 May 2009 |
