Not a top-notch effort, Langoa Barton's medium ruby-colored 1997 exhibits sweet, herb-tinged, berry, and currant aromas, spicy, cedary, medium-bodied flavors, low acidity, and a pleasant but undistinguished finish. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Score: 84 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 01 April 2000 |

Rather tough, but there's good berry and currant character. Medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a light, slightly dry finish. Best after 2000. Score: 85 James Suckling, Wine Spectator Maturity: 2000+ 31 January 2000 |

Healthy ruby-red. Cherry, cassis and a fairly pronounced leathery component on the nose. Supple, sweet and cedary; distinctly softer than the '98. A gently styled wine but with very good depth of fruit. Finishes with ripe, even tannins and good length. Score: 86 - 88 Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 May 1999 |
