Very deep crimson. Heady – quite alcoholic. Taken right to the limit. A little syrupy and lots of acidity. Very dry on the finish, An achievement but not a pleasure. Score: 15 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2016-2022 01 January 1900 |

A silky and fruity wine with currants and spices. Medium body, fine tannins. Very good indeed Score: 85 - 88 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 01 January 1900 |

This classed growth lies just outside the Saint Julien appellation. In 2005 the estate was purchased by Jean Merlaut of Gruaud Larose, and his niece, Celine Villars-Foubet of Chasse Spleen. This is an impressive wine with a lovely nose of flowers and perfume. On the palate there is a good core of solid ripe fruits held together with good acidity and creamy tannins. Very well done. Space limitations did not allow complete tasting notes for this Grand Cru Classe, but 2005 is the finest vintage for these wines since 1982. The range of scores for these wines should give readers an idea of just how consistent this vintage is at this level. Given the style of the vintage, most of these wines should be accessible young yet evolve for a decade or more because of their concentration and tannic structure. Score: 87 - 88 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2006-2016 01 January 1900 |
