Tasting Notes

A classic and very fresh Meursault nose is composed by notes of hazelnut, pear, white peach and acacia blossom scents that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is a lovely sense of energy to the sleek middle weight flavors that possess a notably finer mouth feel, all wrapped in a fleshy, round and delicious finale. This seductively textured effort should drink well young if desired.

The 2014 Meursault Village les Grands Charrons, which will probably be bottled a little earlier than other crus, has a tightly wound, beeswax and honeysuckle-scented bouquet that needs a little encouragement from the glass. The palate is smooth on the entry with stone fruit notes: nectarine, some fresh pear notes and a hint of lemongrass to the finish that feels extended in the mouth. Again, this is a fine, charming Meursault that will be difficult to resist in its youth.

Score: 88 - 90
