The 2016 Rauzan-Gassies has a rather lean bouquet, quite earthy in style and needing more fruit intensity to come through. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, but it does lack substance on the finish. Another frustrating wine from this Margaux property. Score: 87 Neal Martin, Vinous.com Maturity: 2019-2027 01 January 2019 |

The 2016 Rauzan-Gassies has a relatively light, slightly herbaceous bouquet that does not quite deliver the exuberance of its fellow Margaux, although it is not underripe. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannin on the entry, those typical traits of damp undergrowth and a touch of greenness that leads to a balanced finish that just lacks the fruit intensity of others. Score: 86 - 88 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2020-2032 28 April 2017 |

The 2016 Rauzan Gassies is powerful, dense, but also a bit rough around the edges. I had hoped élevage would take care of some of the harder contours the wine showed en primeur, but, sadly, it did not. Tobacco, herbs, licorice and game notes add to the wine's distinctly burly profile. Score: 89 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Maturity: 2019-2026 01 January 2019 |

The 2016 Rauzan Gassies is powerful and dense, but also a touch rustic and rough around the edges. Smoke, leather, tobacco and grilled herbs make up the distinctive flavor signatures, and the wine offers good depth in the glass, although some hard contours remain. There is plenty to look forward to, even if the tannins are a bit forbidding today. Score: 89 - 92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com 25 April 2017 |

Dark colour. Juicy fresh fruit and supple tannins. Score: 90 - 92 Albany Vintners, - 19 April 2017 |

Unusually dark for this property. Smells of light blackberry juice. Not emphatic but certainly not disastrous. Almost ripe enough. Doesn't seem especially concentrated. Inconsequential. Score: 16 - 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2023-2032 17 April 2017 |

A little tight with currant and blackberry character, a medium body and a chewy finish. Slightly lean, but this should fill out nicely in barrel. Score: 90 - 91 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 24 March 2017 |
