I had hoped this offering would turn out even better, but it is still a tasty, well-made Bordeaux that represents reasonably good value in this super-expensive vintage. Deep ruby to the rim, it offers up scents of damp earth, black currants, cherries, licorice, and herbs, medium body, moderate tannin, and 10-15 years of longevity. Score: 89 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2008-2023 30 April 2008 |

The finest Phelan-Segur since the 1990, the 2005 offers up scents of charcoal, creme de cassis, blueberries, and white flowers. With lovely fruit, abundant fat and richness, medium to full body, and moderately high but sweet tannin, it should drink well for 15 or more years. Score: 89 - 91 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2007-2022 30 April 2007 |

Mid crimson. Vigorous nose. Very solid and quite inky. Smooth, well made. A solid block just like Cos. Should not disappoint - eventually. Pretty austere. Quite deep crimson. Frank, direct, nose, very solid. Lovely opulence on the front palate. Satin texture and good ripe tannins, just lacks a little attack on the back of the palate but very worthy. Solid and should age well but may never escape on to a higher plane of pleasure. Score: 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2016-2026 10 April 2006 |

Velvety-textured red with berry, currant and light spice. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long finish. Builds on the palate. Not sure it's on the same level as 2003 though. Score: 89 - 91 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 01 April 2006 |
