Tasting Notes

The 2014 Petit-Figeac is laced with the essence of sweet dark cherry, plum, tobacco, mint, licorice and leather. Pliant, supple and expressive, it is a highly appealing second wine. This is just as impressive in bottle as it was from barrel.

Score: 92

One third of the crop went into this wine. Labelled La Grangeneuve de Figeac until 2012. 50% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon. 35% new oak. Very dark – especially in comparison to Cheval Blanc just tasted. Rather juicy and toasty and friendly. The aim is to make something to drink between two and eight years. Very charming and very Figeac.

Score: 16+

A juicy and fresh wine with blackberry and mineral character. Full and silky with delicious fruit, wet earth and stone character. Excellent second wine. This is really interesting because there is 44% cabernet sauvignon with the rest being cabernet franc and a little merlot.

Score: 90 - 91
