(from a sunny, south-facing spot high on the hillside but with a vein of clay running through it): Bright, light yellow with green highlights. Complex aromas of lemon oil, lime, crushed rock, menthol and licorice complicated by smoky and gamey nuances. Rich and densely packed; comes across as sweeter than the Clos sûr la Roche but a bit reduced today and dominated by strong mineral-driven acidity and saline minerality. Also more backward and phenolic than the Clos sûr la Roche but conveys a powerful impression of tightly coiled energy. Score: 91 - 93 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 01 December 2015 |

A completely reduced nose is impossible to evaluate but there is a sleek mouth feel to the clean, cool and restrained middle weight flavors that seem to be built on a firm base of almost pungent minerality before terminating in a strikingly complex and persistent finish. I very much like the balance and this should amply reward extended cellaring and will need at least 4 to 5 years first. Score: 91 - 93 Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2020+ 15 October 2015 |
