Tasting Notes

Once again there is strong reduction present. The restrained medium-bodied flavors possess excellent delineation before culminating in a delicious, stony, austere and quite serious finish.

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru is a blend of Cherbaud, Bel Air and Petit Chapelle. Up until 2012 it included Champonnet, which Arnaud now blends separately. Matured in 40% new oak, it has a very expressive, mineral-driven bouquet with vivid blackberry and cranberry scents, cold limestone in the background. The palate is very composed with filigree tannin and sensual in the mouth with a keen line of acidity; this is a more understated Gevrey but that detail on the finish is wondrous.

Score: 92 - 94
