Tasting Notes

A discreet but not invisible touch of wood easily allows the cool and ultra-fresh aromas of petrol, green apple, white flowers and citrus peel scents to be appreciated. There is outstanding power to the racy and almost painfully intense big-bodied flavors that deliver superb persistence and minerality on the focused, driving and pure finale. This firmly structured beauty is clearly going to require at least a few years of cellar time as it's presently very tightly wound. Sweet spot

The 2014 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru was reduced to three barrels this year because of hail. It has an attractive honeyed, beeswax-scented bouquet that is a little more tropical than its peers. The palate is well balanced with ripe citrus fruit and nicely judged acidity. What I like here is the body. Some of the Corton-Charlemagne this year have comes across as a bit skinny, whereas this has that "gras" finish that you seek. This is a wine worthy of such a famous grand cru vineyard.
