40% new oak. Paler than the Nuits Cailles - pale to mid ruby. VA seems relatively high. Then there is very flattering, soft, strangely evolved fruit on the palate. Some hint of cinnamon. Lighter in body than you might expect for this appellation but it’s certainly very charming. Almost three times the ex-cellar price of the Nuits Cailles. I could imagine enjoying this this evening! Good dark red. Ethereal aromas of red cherry, spices and dried flowers, plus a hint of chocolate liqueur. Wonderfully intense, seamless and lush, but with terrific integrated acidity giving punch to the very youthful cherry and rose petal flavors. The splendid rising, saline finish features fine-grained, glistening tannins and strong supporting fruit. Very alive and evolving slowly; the wine's explosive back end suggests that it has outstanding potential. Score: 93 - 96 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 01 January 2016 |
