Tasting Notes

The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet Village is blessed with a charming, surprisingly mineral-rich, smoky bouquet that repays aeration in the glass, so do not be afraid to decant this. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a fine line of acidity, impressive weight in the mouth, perhaps just requiring a tad more tension to come through on the finish. Still, this is an excellent village cru from Jean-Marc Boillot.

Pale bright yellow. Fruit-driven white peach and apple aromas and flavors. Good sappy village wine with more depth than the Meursault, as well as an impression of sucrosité. Nicely integrated acidity frames and extends the rich finish. In an easygoing style but very dry, at 0.9 grams per liter residual sugar. The vintage in general finished very dry, noted Boillot, who vinifies with selected yeast strains.

Score: 88 - 91
