Tasting Notes

A gorgeously layered nose offers up notes of mineral reduction, green apple, various white flowers and wet stone. There is wonderful delineation and an intrinsic sense of energy to the pungently mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess a remarkably fine mouth feel before culminating in a saline-inflected finish that possesses the best length of this group of 1ers. This is very much like rolling small stones around in one's mouth and this should reward 12 to 15 years of bottle age. Don't miss! Outstanding

The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrières has a slightly more austere bouquet than Dominique Lafon’s other 2013 premier crus, unfolding with each swirl of the glass to reveal candied orange peel and cold stone scents. The palate is very tense with a fabulous line of acidity. There is tension here from start to finish and impressive intensity in the mouth, a Perrières determined to put a gap between itself and 'the rest.' Very persistent in the mouth, this is a very serious Perrières that should age over 15-20 years.
