Tasting Notes

The vibrant, golden/citrus-colored NV Grande Réserve Brut - a blend of Chardonnay (43%), Pinot Noir (42%) and Pinot Meunier (15%) - opens with a rich, ripe and intense, yet elegant and distinguished bouquet of sweet cherries, yellow plums, brioches, lemons and a hint of nougat. Round and intense on the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, elegant and mouth-filling Brut. It has charming cherry fruit, and nice freshness and grip in the finish. There are lovely herbal aromas in the aftertaste. This is the generous classic of the Gosset portfolio.

Rich and toasty, with honey and roasted almond notes layered with flavors of baked peach, orange blossom, brioche and pastry cream. A harmonious Champagne, featuring a refined mousse and bright acidity. Drink now through 2020.

The elegant, pure and overtly yeasty nose retains a lovely sense of freshness on the pear, apple and vaguely citrus-inflected aromas. The sense of refinement continues onto the cool and restrained yet solidly complex middle weight flavors where the finish really fans out on the slightly creamy finish. As the description suggests this is a wine of textural contrasts as the mid-palate is almost discreet yet there is ample volume and richness on the moderately dry finish. The supporting mousse is neither firm nor soft and this should appeal to a variety of preferences.

A fragrant nose with plenty of bright red florals on offer. Rose-like, musky and perfumed, this has a wealth of freshness and very subtle biscuit-like complexity. The palate's assertive and fully formed, really expands as it moves, delivering bright red berry and ripe peach and nectarine flavors. There's a little spicy twist through the finish. An expressive style made to drink now.

Pale gold. Expansive, mineral-driven citrus and orchard fruit scents are complemented by anise, honey and buttered toast, along with a hint of peach pit. Packs a solid punch but comes off lithe and precise, with mineral-laced blood orange and quince flavors and a deeper suggestion of fresh fig. Closes on a spicy note, with repeating minerality and very good persistence.

The NV Brut Grande Reserve opens with a bouquet of chalk, slate and wet stones. It is a beautifully pointed, energetic wine endowed with gorgeous drive from start to finish. Red berries, dried flowers and mint are some of the nuances that inform the finish. This is Lot # L0428123.
