Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The superb Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts 2011 from Jean-Marc Boillot offers impressive delineation on the nose, with scents of chalk and slate; dew-dappled green apples that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is ripe and quite spicy on the entry. There is clearly great depth here, but it seems more closed than Anaud Ente’s Referts, with a long and tender, slightly peachy/nectarine finish that displays good persistence. This comes recommended. Meaty, substantial nose. Like a bouquet of greenery. Quite winning. Juicy and well defined. (16.5) Score: 16 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2014-2020 07 January 2013 |
