CDP Hommage Jacques Perrin

Hommage à Jacques Perrin is a Rhone icon - the flagship wine of Chateau de Beaucastel in Chateauneuf du Pape. It is made only in the best vintages, the first in 1989, as a tribute to Jacques, a visionary winemaker who refused to use chemicals in his vineyard, and was one of the first to farm organically, in 1950, and later, biodynamically. Produced in tiny quantities, it is dominated by old-vine Mourvedre, giving the wine immense depth, dark fruit intensity, gamey complexity as well as the ability to age effortlessly for decades. Its style is powerful yet refined, with layers of spice, leather and garrigue wrapped around a dense, structured core. Robert Parker once described it as “a wine of monumental proportions,” and it remains one of the Rhone Valley’s most collectible and iconic cuvées.
