Bollinger PN Series

Bollinger PN

Bollinger is famous for its powerful, structured style, based on Pinot Noir, and interesting fact:  it is the only house to use at least 60% Pinot Noir in every blend.  Its specialism and mastery is exemplified in Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Françaises: a wine unicorn that comes from a walled Clos of very old Pinot Noir vines, the last pre-phylloxera ungrafted vines in Champagne.

Bollinger introduced their PN Series to highlight the link between the terroir and the vine, with small production Champagne cuvees that emphasise a specific variety, cru or terroir,.  Each release is unique to celebrate the quality of their most outstanding Grand Crus in a particular vintage.

Previously described as "Baby VVF" (Antonio Galloni), Bollinger PN is fascinating stuff, already complex on release.

PN AYC 18, the latest edition, is based on the superb 2018 vintage and is "a showpiece for the expansive dimensions, intoxciating allure and purity of Ay pinot noir"  from the much lauded Grand Cru village of Aÿ - the home of Bollinger.

"Finally, it was time for Aÿ to take center stage in Bollinger's new Pinot Noir series. It wasn't until the fourth edition that one got home to the house's most powerful stronghold and DNA...
A bargain with peak 2030–2035!"

Bollinger's Chef de Cave, Dennis Bunner, believes 2018 to be at the level of the exceptional 2008 vintage - sunny days and cool nights creating the perfect balance between sugar and acidity.  Wonderful smoky, nutty and caramel tones are imparted by Bollinger's distinct foudre ageing whilst the addition of Bollinger's famed reserve wines (including 25% aged in magnums of 2009) gives further complexity and aromatic depth to the blend.

Available in bottles and magnums, the wonderful Bollinger PN AYC 18 is ready to enjoy on release but will also reward those with the patience to cellar for the next decade.  We can also offer a handful of cases (including magnums) of previous releases.
