Bordeaux 2016 - NEW Neal Martin Reviews

After a blind tasting of more than 200 wines, Neal Martin has reiterated the exceptional quality of the Bordeaux 2016 vintage in his latest article for Vinous. The tasting highlighted some of the wines that have excelled their classification to stand shoulder to shoulder with more distinguished Chateaux.
"it is a great vintage, an epochal growing season; one that serves as a template for subsequent vintages. You often hear the question, “But is it as good as the 2016?” whenever the new crop of Bordeaux wines are assessed... purity, pitch-perfect acidity and, especially, a cashmere texture. Perusing my tasting notes, the words “silky” and “harmonious” appear consistently."
Neal Martin, Vinous, Aug 2020
Cos d'Estournel continued to amaze, wine of the vintage and the only one to receive a perfect 100 points from Neal. Hot on its heels is a very classy Grand Puy Lacoste that is described as "First Growth quality in all but name" whilst Chateau Gloria is undoubtedly one of the best value wines to be found, a superb St Julien that punches "well above reputation and price point".
