2011 RIOJA GRAN RESERVA 904
La Rioja Alta’s Gran Reserva 904 is undoubtedly one the World's most conistently great value wines. We are delighted to offer the new release from the 2011 vintage - officially rated "Excellent" by the Rioja DOC (only 8 such vintages since 1981).
The prestigious 904 is only released when the winery considers it ready to drink, this is a fantastic opportunity to buy a perfectly stored, ready to drink wine of real complexity, without having to pay a fortune for the privilege.
"2011, is reported to be uniformly excellent across the country and more than a few producers and importers I spoke with praised the wines' blend of forward, vivacious fruit and firm underlying structure. Based on my early look at the vintage I'll go out on a limb and call '11 a cross between 2010 and 2009, combining the precocious character of '09 and the focus of '10."

Only made in top vintages, 2011 will be the last Gran Reserva 904 to be released until the 2015 (not released until 2023!). We have also managed to secure a small number of extra cases of the exceptional 2010 - 96pts WA "A legend in the making". Now is the time to stock up.

" Intense, deep cherry-red with a garnet-red rim. Intense and complex aromas, dominated by fruit (blackberry jam, raspberries and orange zest) that reveals underlying spicy and balsamic notes of cigar box, cedar liquorice, cloves, chocolate mints andtoasted wood. Elegantly refined entry. Fresh and lively in the mouth, nicely balanced with polished, silky tannins and a gentle, delicate finish. Very long aftertaste, with citrus and balsamic notes that provide long, complex final sensations."
