Almaviva Grand Chai.jpg

Almaviva has long been revered as one of the finest wines of South America, a beautiful Bordeaux blend that marries First Growth expertise with the exceptional Chilean terroir.  James Suckling believes recent vintages also stand shoulder to shoulder with the World's finest and the spectacular 100 point 2017 Almaviva is released today at £624 per 6 with production 20% down from the previous year.

“The 2017 is a sensation, scoring 100 points”
James Suckling

Almaviva is made in the style of a top Pauillac with the assistance of Mouton's team of experts.  The gorgeous 2017 is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Carmenere (a very close relative of Merlot), 5% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot.  Robert Parker has previously described Almaviva as "The finest Cabernet-based wine I have ever had from Chile" and it has a proven track record for improving with age in bottle.

“Chilean wines have never been better thanks to a string of excellent vintages... great wines by all standards and rank among the best wines of the world, even when compared against classical regions such as Bordeaux and Burgundy”
James Suckling

“The aromas of blackberry leaves and iodine are wild and exotic here with mussel shells and earth underneath. Full-bodied, tight and chewy with powerful tannins that show muscle. It’s structured and powerful. Dense and very, very deep. Don’t touch this until 2025."
