Leoville Barton.jpg

Chateau Leoville Barton is one of the great names of Bordeaux, a Second Growth with a richly deserved reputation for delivering consistently excellent quality, whilst maintaining a reasonable price. Offered today at £758 per 12.

With an impressive 96-99 from the usually reserved Wine Spectator and high scores across the board, this will sit proudly alongside other top vintages like 2003, 2005 and 2010 (all £1000+). Very close in quality to St Julien neighbours Leoville Lascases & Ducru Beaucaillou which will be close to double the price of Leoville Barton.  The “stunningly beautiful unctuous” 2018 continues a fine run of vintages for this classic St Julien and this may well be the best of the lot!

96-99 WS - A stunner, showing a great degree of purity...A very vivid, defined, precise wine.
93-96 AG - fabulous…  stunningly beautiful unctuous Saint-Julien.
96 Decanter - They are just hitting it out of the park at Léoville Barton at the moment…

Another perrenial favourite, Grand Puy Lacoste, is released at £672 per 12.  This classy Pauillac estate has once again delivered a beautiful vibrant wine that gets the same score from Antonio Galloni (93-96) as Lafite and Lynch Bages, both of which will be considerably more expensive on release.

93-96 AG - understated and classy, Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the highlights of the year. In a word: impeccable.

Out this afternoon we have the St Julien classic Chateau Talbot – a property with a strong international following.  A very good Talbot with a little more weight than usual.  The 2018 will be adorned with a special edition label further adding to its appeal.  AG - “Powerful yet also impeccably refined”. JS - “One of the best Talbots in a long time”.
