Burgundy 2017: ANTOINE JOBARD

Since taking over from his father in 2004 Antoine Jobard has moved towards a more forward style that has resulted in some sensuous and expressive wines.  Classic Meursault with intense ripe fruit and moderate use of new oak.

 

"Incisive but concentrated, Antoine Jobard's style was a perfect match for the 2017 vintage, and he has produced a predictably lovely range of wines that will be well worth readers' avid attention. Antoine took over from father François in 2004, but the rudiments of winemaking here haven't changed: long fermentations, protracted sur lie élevage without stirring and moderate percentages of new wood are still the order of the day."

2017 MEURSAULT TILLETS -  £245 per 6x75cl IB - “Notes of waxy lemon rind, green orchard fruit, drawn butter and almonds... more concentration, depth and extract than Jobard's regular Meursault Village, its more textural profile balanced by tangy acids, displaying promising structural tension at the core." 90-92pts William Kelley
2017 MEURSAULT GENEVRIERES 1er Cru - £480 per 6x75cl IB - “crisp green and yellow orchard fruits, honeycomb, hazelnut cream and subtle leesy nuances which will likely dissipate by the time the wine finishes its élevage. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and multidimensional, with superb depth and amplitude, a concentrated and tight-knit score and a long, sapid finish.
