Clos la Madeleine

Clos La Madeleine.jpg

Located on the high limestone plateau just outside the village of Saint Emilion, Clos La Madeleine is described by Robert Parker as a 'tiny jewel of a property'It is situated on the slope close to Chateau Ausone, next to Chateau Belair-Monange (owned by Moueix) and the former Magdelaine vineyard.  Hubert de Bouard of Chateau Angelus is consultant here and production is very small, from 500-700 cases only per year!

We were delighted to secure a small parcel of the 'impressive' 2012 vintage (92 RP) that we can offer here at a great price.

"This wine showed beautifully in my tasting. From a tiny (29 acres) jewel of a property on the hillsides of St.-Emilion, not far from the big boys of the plateau area (Ausone, Belair, etc), the 2012 is dense purple in color, with sweet black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, some crushed rock and floral notes, medium to full body, not a hard edge to be found, and a lush, well-proportioned, beautifully pure finish. This impressive wine is clearly a sleeper of the vintage, but quantities are very small. Drink it over the next 15 years. The final blend was 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc."
