"If you have not tasted Domaine Gaston Huet's wines before, then I cannot recommend them highly enough"

The appellation of Vouvray in the Loire Valley has produced some of the most complex and long-lived white wines in the world and Domaine Huet is one of the leading exponents.

Top vintages from the Domaine are revered for their deep honey colour, finesse, and array of complex fruit flavours and toasty aromas.  We are pleased to offer a range of the exciting 2015s from the estate's three main vineyards; Le Mont, Le Haut-Lieu and Le Clos du Bourg that offer wines with varying character.

  • Le Haut-Lieu is capable of producing some exquisite wines with the deep clay-limestone found at the vineyard giving its wines great suppleness.
  • Le Mont is normally the last vineyard to be picked, the wines are usually the last to open up but are generally very long lived.
  • Le Clos du Bourg is acknowledged as the oldest cru in the appellation, it is seen as the most promising source for moelleux wines from grapes affected by either botrytis or passerillage.

In the footsteps of the excellent 2014 vintage, 2015 is another top vintage for Chenin Blanc:  ripeness is matched by acidity making the dry (SEC) wines very compelling, but 2015 is also the first vintage for years where botrytis has been present, meaning that we can offer the rare sweet Premieres Tries also.

"We are delighted to see a return of botrytis in these Moelleux Premiere Tries which has been absent since 1997. It gives the wines a wonderful aromatic complexity and textural presence and is usually only found in the greatest vintages such as 1947, 1959, 1971 and 1990"  Chef de Cave, Jean Bernard Berthomé
