"Having tasted the wines in the spring of 2006 from barrel, when they were only a few months old, whether red, white, dry or sweet I already compared the vintage to such modern classic years as 1982, 1989, 1990, 1995 and 2000. They were honestly that good quality at such a young age. Of course, 2009 and 2010 were not harvested yet, but today I even can say that 2005 is in the same league as these marvelous modern vintages.

Prices for the best 2005 Bordeaux seem relative bargains considering many are selling at, or near release price...I suggest buying some 2005 and drinking them now and later. I myself just bought a case of the 2005 Grand-Puy-Lacoste"   James Suckling, October 2015

"The purity of fruit in this is fascinating with plums, currants and other dark fruits. Then there is another layer of spices and chocolate. So much cassis. Full and very layered with chewy polished tannins and a long, long finish. Just starting to open. Changes all the time. Still needs a year or two but gorgeous to drink already."

"A fabulous GPL. Perhaps better than the legendary 1982? It shows laser-guide precision on the palate with aromas of currants, cedar, mint, flowers and chocolate. Full-bodied and extremely finely textured on the palate, lasting for minutes. A joy to drink now. Get some."

"Lots of sexy, exotic aromas to this wine in addition to flamboyant floral undertones. It's full-bodied with a cold tannic texture and flavor that gives the wine a very graphite-like undertone. Drinkable now but better in 2018."

"This accelerates on the palate with incredibly ripe tannins and finesse. Full body, roasted fruit, leather and grilled meat. Dried flowers, too. It shows superb tannin backbone and polish. Tight and youthful. Just starting to open. Currant and berry undertones with lead pencil are impressive. Better in 2018 but so delicious now."
