Dom Perignon 2005

DP 05
We are delighted to offer the newly released, eagerly awaited 2005 Dom Perignon, one of the most sought-after luxury cuvee champagnes in the world.

  • Described as "an instant wow wine" by Tom Stevenson, the 2005 vintage of Dom Perignon is the smallest in Richard Geoffroy's time as Chef de Cave, down around 50% from normal levels, and the second smallest vintage ever after the 1971, with one of the highest proportions of Chardonnay in the blend at 63%.

A beautifully balanced, seductive, elegant Dom Perignon, this is likely to disappear from the market quickly, given the small production, so please do let us know of your interest as soon as possible.

"The 2005 Dom Pérignon opens with the classic Dom Pérignon bouquet. Warm toasty notes meld into expressive fruit in a supple, silky Champagne endowed with stunning depth, nuance and complexity. Sweet floral notes add lift as the wine opens up in the glass. Overall, the 2005 is a relatively delicate, gracious DP, but what it lacks in depth it more than makes up with persistence and its open, totally inviting personality. Today it's hard to see the 2005 making old bones, but it is a gorgeous wine to drink while the 2004 ages. In 2005, the release is scheduled to last about six months, which means production is down around 50% over normal levels. All I can say is the 2005 is fabulous, especially in a vintage that required considerable sorting to eliminate rampant rot in the Pinots"

"An instant wow wine. The fabulously full, toasty aromas and luxuriously rich, toast chocolaty, coffee-infused red and black fruits are as seductive as I have seen in any Dom Perignon from the moment it has been launched"
Tom Stevenson

"The 2005 Dom Perignon comes in at 63% Chardonnay - the second highest percentage of Chardonnay on record.  Very open and complex on the nose with rich toasty notes, deepening into an array of dark fruit, notable creaminess and lime citrus.  Intense and mouthfilling, becoming more delicate in flavour profile.  Beautifully balanced with lovely precision and persistence on the very long finish.  Fans of the cuvee should note that this is the second smallest vintage ever after the 1971 and as production is only 25% of 2004, the 2005 should disappear from the market quickly. This is an outstanding Champagne."
