Eglise Clinet Released!

eglise clinet

An exciting release now with the great Eglise Clinet now out.  Denis Durantou's wines are beautifully crafted year on year but his 2013s are a stunning achievement across the range in a year that many found challenging to say the least. The uber impressive Eglise Clinet has an amazingly silky texture and is unique in terms of concentration and structure. Pure, long and gorgeous it is a triumph for the vintage!

"there is no question that Denis Durantou has (yet again) conjured one of the few 2013s that I actually cannot wait to taste in bottle. Not only is Château L'Eglise-Clinet the finest Pomerol, but this "king" is surrounded by a consort of superbly crafted wines such as "Les Cruzelles" in Lalande-de-Pomerol and Montlandrie on Castillon" Neal Martin, erobertparker.com

Also released today is Vieux Ch Chateau - again extremely limited availability given the miniscule production this year.

EGLISE CLINET 2013 £600 per case/ 6 IB
"This is already utterly seductive. One day, Denis might make a L'Eglise-Clinet that does not incite superlatives. I might be waiting a long time. If you do insist on buying one 2013 en primeur, then make it this one." Neal Martin 94-96

Amazing value can also be found amongst Denis' other releases and these often sell out very quickly:  La Petite Eglise (in magnum), La Chenade, Les Cruzelles (very limited stock), the great value Saintayme from Saint Emilion and Denis' Cotes de Castillon, Montlandrie.  Given the extremely limited availability of Eglise Clinet this year - production is only 10,000 bottles, down 35% - there is huge pressure on allocations, also given that this wine is widely acclaimed as wine of the vintage. We therefore ask that you register your interest in this wine and we will confirm back. We will give preference to customers who wish to buy other wines in the Durantou stable.

VIEUX CH CERTAN 2013 £445 per case/ 6 IB
"The Vieux Château Certan 2013 is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc picked from 30 September until 9th October at 22hl/ha. It has a lovely, pure bouquet with small red cherries, rose petals and mineral that has exquisite delineation, though it does not possess the profundity of a top tier VCC. The palate is precise on the entry, a little pinched perhaps but with aeration it unfurls nicely. There is great tension here: a streamlined VCC that has the precision of a Swiss watch and a sense of tension that Hitchcock would have been proud of. Tasted April 2014" Neal Martin 92-94

LEOVILLE POYFERRE 2013 £420 per case/ 12 IB
"A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the Grand Vin, there is an almost Burgundy like purity on the nose, evoking a sense of Vosne-Romanée! The palate is full-bodied for the vintage, very concentrated with layers of ripe toasty black fruit. The acidity is well judged and there is good grip on the finish. Powerful and burly, this is a 2013 for those who do not want to compensate on fruit! Tasted April 2014." Neal Martin 90-92
