Domaine de Chevalier Label

25 April 2014

Today's releases includes one of the best values of this campaign - Domaine de Chevalier Red at £300. Always reasonably priced En Primeur, the 2013 is the cheapest vintage on the market and is always one of our biggest sellers on release. The dry white's (along with Sauternes) really are the stars of the vintage and the dry white from Domaine de Chevalier is now also available at £600.

Figeac have adopted a far more sensible En-Primeur pricing policy since the 2012 vintage and we are pleased to offer one of our favourite St Emilions £530 a case. Staying in St Emilion, we have followed Fleur Cardinale for a number of years and we now have their 2013 available at £240.

We are still waiting for the big gun's from St Julien but maybe we will see them soon now that we have releases from Branaire Ducru at £280 and Langoa Barton at £315.

DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER - £300 per case/12 IB
"Spice and tobacco character with berry and coffee undertones. Medium to full body, silky tannins. Seamless and integrated for the vintage." 91-92 James Suckling

DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER BLANC- £600 per case/12 IB
"This white is so dense and powerful, with a finish that lasts for minutes. Pear, lemon, grapefruit and loads of minerals. Has more weight than all the red wines made in 2013. Full body. Profound depth. I look forward to tasting this from bottle in a few years." 97-98 James Suckling

FIGEAC - £530 per case/12 IB
"This delivers a very solid core of plum, cassis and blackberry fruit, with polished edges and a good underpinning of iron and violet notes through the finish. Long and solidly built without overreaching. One of the top surprises of the vintage." 91-94 James Molesworth, WS

FLEUR CARDINALE - £240 per case/12 IB.
"It has a pleasant bouquet with ripe blackberry and cassis notes, perhaps just a touch of alcohol giving it lift. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is good weight here and decent tension on the finish, though it cuts away a little quickly." 89-91 Neal Martin

BRANAIRE DUCRU - £280 per case/12 IB.
"Fine deep colour and fine vineyard expression, good depth, balance and class for the future." 90 Decanter

LANGOA BARTON - £315 per case/12 IB.
"I like the pure and clean fruit with medium to full body, integrated tannins and juicy finish. A sliced lemon and dark fruit undertone. Long subtle finish." 91-92 James Suckling

All wines are available in cases of 6 (pro rata) and halves, magnums and larger formats.
