Tasting Notes

The 2014 La Fleur de Bouard has a detailed and quite intense bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and cedar aromas, an attractive floral scent that emerges with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, lively and crisp in the mouth, although the finish shuts everything down a little early. Therefore, give this Lalande de Pomerol three or four years in bottle to allow those tannins to mellow and just gain the charm of the aromatics.

The La Fleur de Bouard 2014 has a rich and opulent bouquet, quite lavish, but it needs more delineation to come through. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, tightly knit blackberry fruit with a hint of charcoal toward the linear finish. This is a very 'contained' Lalande-de-Pomerol that should stretch its wings after bottling, though I always find it difficult to discern much personality in Hubert de Bouard's wine.

The licorice and herbal notes really add something to this wine, which is simultaneously rich and dry; good length, too.

Rich, toasty nose. Very thick and pretty sweet but not over the top. A friendly mouthful - cheerful. (16+ Points)

Fresh but lighter-bodied, with modest intensity to the raspberry coulis and damson plum fruit. Pretty spice and suave toast helps fill in the finish.

The 2014 La Fleur de Boüard is exuberant and bold. Sweet red cherries, red currant, flowers, mint and spices are laced together in a silky, racy wine built on pure texture, while the long, persistent finish is quite inviting. This is a classic de Boüard wine built on opulence. The blend is 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.
