Tasting Notes

The 2014 de Fargues has a well-defined bouquet with enticing scents of yellow flowers, dried honey and light quince aromas. The palate is well balanced, very pure with a fine bead of acidity. It is not a concentrated Sauternes but you have to adore the lightly spiced persistent and mellifluous finish. Classy. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

The Château de Fargues 2014 has an opulent, rounded and powerful bouquet that delivers a payload of botrytized fruit that is precise, upholding the de Fargues style, hints of mandarin and Clementine developing in the glass. The palate has a huge weight in the mouth: a fine line of acidity with layers of clear honey, marmalade and a dash of ginger on the finish. This represents an immensely pure Château de Fargues with enormous length and intensity. Superb.

Heady nose and relatively low acid for 2014 but lots of botrytis and sweetness. Pungent and traditional. Impressively persistent.

Offers a lovely feel, with creamed peach, apricot and ginger notes, laced with almond and heather accents, leading to a long finish of hazelnut and singed orange. Extremely backward right now, but exhibits amazing depth and length already.
