The 2013 Capbern Gasqueton has a light, savory bouquet with touches of graphite coming through with aeration, though it remains a bit pinched and mean. The palate is medium-bodied with light, rather "stiff" tannin at the moment, moderate depth, a little surly and missing some flesh towards the tapered, dry and earthy finish. The Chateau Capbern-Gasqueton 2013 is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon raised in 30% new wood. It has a light graphite scented bouquet that is a little subdued on the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins; graphite infused black fruit with a light classic finish. This is easy drinking but deftly crafted. 91% Cabernets, 6% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. Lovely medicinal character, classic blackcurrant fruit, dry but not at all astringent. The tannins are grippy but welcoming.
