Tasting Notes

2013 Malescot Saint Exupéry Malescot Saint Exupery The 2013 Malescot Saint Exupéry is a bit tight and rough around the edges, but it also offers good persistence and depth. Smoke, violets, tobacco, grilled herbs and cured meats inform the tannic, somewhat burly finish. Tasted twice.

Score: 88 - 91 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com Date: 01 April 2014

A pretty wine with a solid core of fruit with blueberry and mineral character. Floral. Full body, seamless and long. Racy for the vintage. Half the production. Extremely well done.

Score: 92 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Date: 01 April 2014

A blend 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the Malescot St. Exupery has a perfumed bouquet with ripe floral cranberry and redcurrant fruit that is nicely defined, the Cabernet lending a pleasant cedar-infused aroma. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, well judged acidity and a light but focused finish that is at least fresh and precise. This is a well-crafted Margaux for the vintage and should drink well over the next 6-8 years. Tasted April 2014.

Score: 88 - 90 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Date: 01 April 2014

Bright and direct, with good cherry and raspberry coulis notes laced with a mesquite hint. Nice silky finish. Elegant, with good length.

Score: 88 - 91 James Molesworth, Wine Spectator Date: 01 April 2014

Dense colour, well-extracted fruit, vigour without heaviness, good mid-term

Score: 89 Decanter, Decanter.com Maturity: 2017-2027 Date: 01 April 2014

Intense nose of black fruit and woodsmoke. Concentrated and thick, a little forced, finishing dry.

Score: 89 - 91 Albany Vintners, - Date: 01 April 2014

Confected, medicinal style fruit. Not much perfume, and loads of chalky tannic grip. Falls away quickly. (15.5)
